Wang Bingfu, styled as Changdao

 

1936, born in Tianjin

1956, entered Tianjin No.1 Middle School

June, 1956, passed the preliminary test of Central Academy of Fine Arts, interviewed by Mr. Jiang Zhaohe

July, 1956, admitted by Central Academy of Fine Arts, and visited Qi Baishi introduced by Mr. Li Kuchan in September this year

1956-1957, began to study sketch from Li Hu, Liu Boshu, Huang Runhua, study ink painting from Zong Qixiang, and watercolor painting from Xiao Shu Fang, during when he got advices from Wu Zuoren.

1958, led by Mr. Lu Hongnian and Mr. Huang Jun, he went to Yongle Palace to copy the murals there.

1959-1960, began to study portrait from Ye Qianyu and Jiang Zhaohe, to study landscape painting from Wu Jingting, Qin Zhongwen and Li Keran, and flower-and-bird painting from Li Kuchan and Gao Xishun.

Oct. 1960, led by Dong Xiwen, Li Qi, and Lu Hongnian, he went to Mo Kao Grotto at Dunhuang to copy the murals there.

Sep. 1961, graduated from Chinese painting department, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and worked as a teacher in Beijing School of Arts and Crafts. Beijing

1964-1979, he was sent to rural areas to labor, and then worked as a pattern designer in Beijing Carpet Factory.

1979, went back to teach in School of Arts and Crafts

1983, finished the lecture notes on line drawing and painting skills Discussion of Painting Skills, which was published in Jiangxi Fine Arts Press in 2010.

1983-1984, painted about three hundred paintings of the series of A New Account of the Tales of the World.

1986, finished One-hundred Pictures of Chinese Ghost Romance.

1990, finished about a hundred illustrations of Chinese Mythology (English version), Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and The Golden Lotus (Korean version).

1995-now, he paints about five hundred pictures of Chinese Ancient Pottery Figurine.

2002-now, he paints about five pictures of Ancient Boo”.

 

In 1990s, he concentrates on freehand figure paintings. Recently, he puts more emphasis on landscape sketches.
